Christmas 2011

Christmas was very good to us this year. The kids kept us busy with their various parties, pageants and programs. Christmas was of course great fun and Santa was very good to us this year. I should also say that various grandparents, great-grandparents, as well as aunts and uncles made is very special too. We're so grateful to be remembered by all those who are so far away from us at this time of year. They really go above and beyond to get those presents delivered for the kids to have them Christmas morning. Here's what Christmas at our house looked like this year:

Santa

Almost forgot this great photo. Santa visited the Christmas fair at Sophie & Levi's school the weekend before Thanksgiving...guess he's on top of things this year. Guess who wanted nothing to do with him? Give up? Sophie took quite a bit of convincing and on the second attempt after she'd had some time to think about it we finally got this cute picture. I think Chuck told her that Santa needed to know what she looked like so he'd know who to give her presents to although as I'm writing this it seems a bit of a weak argument so either I've got it wrong or he's more convincing than I am. She sat for the picture but refused to talk to him. At least she smiled this time.

The Christmas Tree

For reasons I can't really excuse or explain we decided to embrace the Rocky Mountains and get a Lodgepole Pine as our Christmas Tree this year. It's not quite as full as some of the other more traditional trees but it does have pinecones still attached and I can say that so far...none of its needles are on my floor. We decorated it yesterday...here's a look.

The Wind Storm

Some of you have been asking about the big wind storm we got recently. It did sound like the roof was going to fly off the house but I'm happy to report no such thing happened. The worst damage we had was to our fence which Chuck worked hard at fixing yesterday. The posts are setting up in the cement he poured yesterday and soon the whole thing will be a distant memory with only these pictures to remember it by. Although he will probably never read this a special thanks to our new neighbor, Joe for being so helpful in facilitating this repair. Perhaps he was tired of the kids being so interested in his backyard activities when he stepped out his backdoor..."Hi Joe"..."I've got a dinosaur Joe"..."Is that your dog Joe?" (Time to help the Dorvals fix the fence!)

Catch Up Time

Ok, so things have been busy but you wouldn't know it to read our blog. Let me try to catch you up to speed. We spent a week this summer in Maine. Part 1

Our new 'hood

Admittedly we've been a little busy the past month what with buying a house and moving and everything that goes with it...not many blog updates lately but we're happy to report everything is smashing so far. Yesterday morning we took time out from unpacking/packing for our Maine trip to walk to the brand new playground that was just built a the end of our street. Here are a few pictures to give you a visual. Note the stunning view of the mountains in the background. If I'm not mistaken that's Parley's Canyon which leads up to Park City.
Now, off to Maine!

Pictures of our life

Let's face it, actions speak louder than words. I'm not much for writing, keeping a journal or diary, and I can barely keep this blog going. I do enjoy taking photographs and to me they tell a story. I'll let these speak for themselves.
