Moab

We've been in Utah almost two full years without venturing to the southern part of the state. This past week we decided to check it out. We spent two nights in Moab and checked out Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. They are absolutely spectacular. Arches is so named for the over 2,000 arches in the park. We did several short hikes to see some of the more notable ones. Very reasonable and fun hikes for the kids.
We also visited the Island in the Sky section of Canyonlands National Park. It was also gorgeous but most of the views were from the top of the canyon and there are no safety rails to obstruct the view. Not a place to allow small children to run free but we were still able to find some fun hikes. The kids had a great time and we will definitely be returning to the southern part of the state to explore some more.

Playball

The girls are playing T-Ball and baseball for the first time this spring. It makes for a busy week with two nights of baseball but it's so much fun to watch them. The T-Ball is especially cute to watch. A herd of 3 and 4 year-olds chasing a ball around the field followed by a pig pile on the ball, trying to get the ball only to wonder what do I do now that I have it. Just getting them to run to the right base when they're at bat is a challenge, forget about actually making a play...just the basics here. Sophie is doing great and seems to be catching on. She can be quite competetive when fielding the ball and can really whack a ball. Lily is doing great too. Her first at bat she had a very nice line drive off the pitcher (coach pitch) which is great considering one of the goals is not have to use the tee (after three pitches). Her throwing and catching skills are really coming along. Most importantly everyone is having a good time, even Mom & Dad.
